You have questions, we have the answers!
Who is BitSpecialist?
BitSpecialist is the online destination for riders who take their horse's bitting seriously. We specialise exclusively in horse bits - offering an extensive, carefully curated range of bits from leading brands, for show jumping, dressage, and everyday riding. As a sister company of HorseOnline, we carry the same premium selection, with the depth of focus you would expect from a true specialist.
How do I know which bit is right for my horse?
Bit selection depends on your horse's mouth anatomy (width, palate height, tongue thickness), your discipline, training level, and sensitivity. There is no one-size-fits-all answer. If you are unsure, reach out to us via WhatsApp - describe your horse and any issues with your current bit and we will guide you to the right choice.
How do I measure the correct bit size?
Use a soft measuring tape or string. Place it in your horse's mouth where the bit would sit and measure from corner to corner of the lips. Add approximately 0.5 cm on each side for a comfortable fit. When in doubt, go slightly larger. Still unsure? Contact us and we will walk you through it.
Do you offer personal bitting advice?
Yes, and this is one of the things that sets us apart. Our team is happy to help you find the right bit based on your horse and riding goals. Reach out via WhatsApp (Monday to Friday, 8:30–17:00) and we will get you sorted.
How long does delivery take?
Orders placed on a working day before 15:00 CET are dispatched the same day. Delivery within the Netherlands and Belgium takes 1 to 2 business days. For other European countries, expect 2 to 3 business days. You will receive a tracking notification as soon as your order ships.
Can I return or exchange a bit?
The bit is supplied in transparent packaging.
- If the bit is not what you are looking for and you leave the packaging unopened, you can return it unopened and receive a full refund of the purchase price, excluding shipping costs.
- If you open the packaging and use the bit to test it, you will be charged a testing fee of €10 euros per bit upon return. The remainder of the purchase price, excluding shipping costs, will be refunded.
